Colon Cancer
What Is Colon Cancer?
This cancer can manifest itself as simple as:
abdominal discomfort or frequent gas pains,
to as serious as:
unintentional weight loss or jaundice (yellow color to the skin and whites of the eyes).
This part of the intestine makes up the majority part of the digestive system.
The rectum is the last 8-10 inches of the system and the colon is the next 6 feet or so.
The primary function of this part of the intestine is water, mineral, and nutrient absorption. After that, it eliminates the waste material in the form of a stool.
The disease begins in cells in the lining which reproduce abnormally, and the disease occurs. From this point they reproduce, grow, and spread, usually in a ring-shape-pattern spreading outward to neighboring organs including the liver, lungs, or lymph nodes.
What Causes Colon Cancer?
The 12 major causes are:
DIET high in fat and low in fiber;
AGE above 50;
ALCOHOL, excess drinking;
DIABETES, increases chances by 40%;
ETHNICITY, race and social status;
FAMILY MEDICAL HISTORY, it runs in the family;
GENDER, men are more susceptible than women;
INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASE, history of;
LACK OF EXERCISE;
OBESITY;
POLYPS, BOWEL INFLAMMATION, history of;
SMOKING transfers carcinogens to the bowels.
What Are Colon Cancer Symptoms?
Symptoms fall into two categories: local and systemic.
LOCAL SYMPTOMS are changes in bowel habits. Stools can be more, or less frequent. Symptoms can include constipation, diarrhea, discolored stools (bright red, dark red, black, or dark color). Stools can also be pencil thin. Other symptoms are difficulty emptying the bowels completely, bloating, frequent gas pains, and cramps.
SYSTEMIC SYMPTOMS affect the whole body. They are symptoms such as: weight loss, nausea, vomiting, anemia, jaundice, loss of appetite, and fatigue.
Weight loss can also be symptoms of:
Kidney Cancer,
Liver Cancer,
or
Prostate Cancer;
while jaudice is also a symptom of
Liver Cancer
and
Prostate Cancer.
Stages Of The Disease Are:
Stage 1, 2, 3, 4, and recurrent. The more the disease has spread, the higher the number that is assigned. Stage 4 is assigned when the disease has spread to distant locations in the body, such as the lungs, bones, and liver.
Tests used during diagnosis can include: a computed tomography aka: CT scan, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), colonoscopy, ultrasound, and surgery.
What Are Traditional Colon Cancer Treatments?
Traditional treatments for stage 3 is removal of the affected area by surgery and removal of any neighboring lymph nodes. This is followed by chemotherapy and perhaps radiation therapy because the cancer in stage 3, has probably spread to the pancreas, small intestine, or other pelvic organs.
Stage 4 treatments are more complicated because the disease has probably involved the liver and lungs, as well as other neighboring organs.
The 5-year survival rates for stage-4 are way down to single digits when treated traditionally. It can also costs a ton of money, probably leaving the family strapped for cash.
Alternative Cancer Treatments That Work!Here is a short version of my miracle. When I was diagnosed in January 2007, my doctor gave me as short as 3-months to live and rated my cancer somewhere between stage 3 or 4. Without checking any alternatives, I started chemotherapy at my health care provider’s oncology department. I was scheduled for 6-rounds of chemotherapy; each round was a double-bag administered about two-weeks apart. During my second infusion, I experienced a deathly reaction to the chemicals and almost died in the treatment chair. That near-death experience was the catalyst that sent me in search of Alternative Cancer Treatments. After weeks of searching, I found a wonderful clinic in Mexico which was recommended in one of Kevin Trudeau’s books about Natural Cures. I devoured the website information and read all the survivor’s testimonials. My husband and I discussed and prayed about the possibilities of me going to the clinic, after-all we're talking about Mexico. But, the website testimonials covered the safety issue when the patients all said they were perfectly safe, at all times. It was a big decision to go; it shouldn’t have been, but it was. I had butterflies like I have never had them before. Then together, my husband and I made the decision for me to go to the clinic. The treatments were for two-weeks; now, they do three-weeks for less money than I paid for my two-weeks. I regained my energy and smile back almost instantly after the treatments began. At the end of my two-weeks I felt perfectly healthy and completely rid of cancer. After returning home, I made an appointment with oncology. He ordered another PET-scan because he couldn’t detect any cancer remaining when he physically examined me. I held my breath for about a week until the results came back…Cancer-Free!!
